Yeheni, Lakman bag National squash titles

Yeheni Kuruppu of Visakha Vidyalaya and E.A.N. Lakman of DS Senanayake College clinched the under 19 girls and boys titles respectively in the 32nd Junior National Squash Championship sponsored by Ritzbury for the 13th consecutive year worked off at SSC Courts, Colombo on January 2, 2022.

The championship took place from December 26 to 31, 2021 at the SSC Courts and final round of the Under 19 event was held on January 2 at the same venue. Over 400 players featured in both genders in age groups under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 in addition to Novices events for under 11, 15 and 19 in the championship.

Adhithi Gunasekera of Ladies’ College was crowned as Most Promising Player of the Year 2021 in girl’s category while Matheesha Wijesekara of Royal College obtained the title in boys’ category. Yeheni Kuruppu and E.A.N. Lakman secured the Junior National Player of the Year 2021 titles respectively.
