ASPI climb further, S&P SL20 passes 4,500 mark

Colombo bourse All Share Price Index reached another fresh high yesterday whilst daily turnover recorded over of Rs. 9.5 bn with mainly local investor interest. Thus, the All Share Price Index gained 92.5 points (+0.7%) to close at 13,169.4 whilst S&P SL20 Index gained by 34.9 points (+0.8%) to close at 4,515.1.

Softlogic Holdings, LOLC Holdings, Vallibel One, Hayleys and Expolanka Holdings remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day. Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 9,464.4 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 4,985.6 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 418,927.1k against the 12-month average daily volume of 256,891.7k. Capital Goods, Food & Beverage, Materials and Diversified Financials mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.

The top turnover generators for yesterday were LOLC Finance Rs. 1,234.1 mn (+1.7%), Browns Investments Rs. 966.3 mn (0.0%), Sunshine Holdings Rs. 683.9 mn (+14.1%), Hayleys Rs. 446.9 mn (+4.6%) and Expolanka Holdings Rs.394.5 mn (+0.5%). Foreigners recorded an outflow of Rs. 111.7 mn during the day. Foreign purchases stood at Rs. 90.1mn which were approximately witnessed in Hayleys, LVL Energy Fund, Teejay Lanka, LOLC Finance and Browns Beach Hotel whilst total foreign sales amounted to Rs. 201.8 mn, assumed to be seen Softlogic Holdings, Sunshine Holdings, Overseas Realty, Kelani Valley Plantations and Lanka IOC. Further, off-board transactions were witnessed in LVL Energy Fund (Rs. 66.0 mn), Windforce (Rs. 24.7 mn) and Brown & Co. (Rs. 20.0 mn) yesterday.

Additionally, Agstar (Voting), Sierra Cables, Softlogic Holdings, Merchant Bank and Commercial Credit & Finance were the top price gainers yesterday whilst SMB Leasing (Non-Voting), Namunukula Plantations, Singer Industries, Good Hope and Vidulanka were the top price losers. Further, Browns Investments, LOLC Finance, Industrial Asphalts, SMB Leasing (Non-Voting) and Merchant Bank were amongst the most actively traded stocks yesterday.
