Kittangi Bridge impassable

The continuous flooding of the low-lying areas of the Batticaloa and Ampara districts has caused the bridge connecting Kittangi and Kalmunai in the Navithanveli Secretarial Division to be submerged, inconveniencing the public.

The villages of Savalakkadai, Navithanvely, Annamalai and Sorikkalmunai and the colony villages of 4, 5, 6 and 12 under the Galoya settlement scheme are badly affected.

Farmers are apprehensive that their paddy cultivations will rot owing to the stagnant water.
