Anuradhapura Government Agent Janaka Jayasundara said that those in the public service must carry out their duties in an exemplary manner. He was addressing the Anuradhapura Kachcheri staff on the beginning of the New Year.

He said that to make the country's government service efficient and people-friendly, the public servants must practise the norms and criteria of the private sector. “They must fulfill the needs of those who visit them for various transactions without making them disappointed and frustrated,” he said.

“The government employees should not forget that they are paid by the public,” Jayasundara said.

“For reinforcing our morale at this juncture, we should take it as a easy task to face the challenges and win them with determination and confidence,” he said.

The Maha Sangha headed by Ven. Nagethenne Pagnanandha Nayake Thera, the Chief Sangha Nayaka of the North and North Central Provinces and Chief Incumbent of Anuradhapura Sambodhi Vihara, attended to religious observances.
