Palaly airport closure, a crime - Arjuna

Former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga in Jaffna on Thursday said that the closure of the Palaly International Airport in Jaffna was a national crime.

He said it was a matter of great concern that the government had not reopened it and allowed people from the North to travel to India and the South.

Ranatunga who visited Jaffna said people have become very dissatisfied with the present government due to such activities.

Ranatunga said that although the Palaly Airport in Jaffna was converted into an international airport in the hope of providing greater relief to the people of the North, the people of the North have not been able to enjoy the services provided by the Palaly Airport even to the extent they were able to do so during the war.
