A 34-year-old male who was under the influence of alcohol was reported dead after he was attacked with an axe by his wife in the Kuruwita area on Saturday night.
The deceased is a resident of Kendalanda, Kuruwita. He died yesterday morning while receiving treatment at the Ratnapura Hospital.
Police investigations reveal that the deceased was in the habit of assaulting his wife and children, under the influence of alcohol.
On Saturday evening too he had threatened his wife and attempted to assault her with a sharp object and a bottle of acid, police said. Then his wife had attacked him with the axe. Police arrested the woman, who is 31 years old. Kuruwita Police is investigating.
