GSMB to transfer Rs. 2.5 billion to Treasury

The Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed the Board of Directors of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) to transfer Rs. 2,500 million (Rs. 2.5 billion) from the revenue earned by the Bureau to the Treasury.
 
The Minister made this announcement during a discussion with the Board of Directors last Friday (07) .
 
Accordingly, steps have already been taken to provide Rs. 02 billion under the first phase. The Minister also instructed that another Rs. 500 million be provided to the General Treasury under the second phase within this month itself.
 
He also said that steps would be taken to send another Rs. 500 million to the Treasury before the end of this year.
 
Accordingly, it is planned to provide Rs. 03 billion in the near future.
 
The Minister also directed the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau to submit plans and proposals to make its work more efficient and to take steps to protect the reputation of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau. He also informed the Board of Directors to expedite the investigations.
