Naveen Ekanayake was a fine batsman and wicket keeper

Twenty Six year old Naveen Ekanayake,an old boy of Trinity College,Kandy is an outstanding Wicket Keeper as well as a Right Hand Batsman and started Cricket under the Coaching of Harold Ranasinghe, who was a former Sri Lanka Schools Cricketer & Level II Cricket Coach and Naveen was coached by Jagath Kalugampitiya too. At Under 13 level he was coached by Gamini Wasalathanthri and Asitha Randunu and Naveen played in the Under 13 Cricket team of Trinity college in the Year 2009 and scored 255 runs in ten matches, his highest score being 60 runs against St.Anne’s Kurunegala. At the Under 15 level he could not fare well but in the Under 17 level in 2010/2011 he came back with a fine performance to score more than 300 runs, his highest score being 53 runs against St.Josephs’ College, Colombo.

Naveen’s Under 17 and first Eleven Coach was Sampath Perera and he scored an unbeaten knock of 112 runs at the mini Battle against St.Anthonys’ College representing his School in the second Eleven Cricket team. Next he represented the first Eleven team under Niroshan Dickwella, present National Cricketer in the year 2014. In the year 2015 he played under Ron Chandragupta and in the same year under Ravin Sayer and Naveen received the ‘Runner-up Trophy at the All Island contest. He achieved this feat due to being an outstanding Wicket keeper of the Trinity College Cricket team.

At present Naveen is attached to Trinity College as an Assistant Coach and his intention is to improve his wicket keeping ability and to give his best to his alma mater, Trinity College,Kandy.
