Bourse bolstered by credit arrangements – Acuity Stockbrokers

The Bourse ended the week on a positive note this week with ASPI increasing by 33.12 points (or 0.25%) to close at 13,371.61 points, while the S&P SL20 Index also increased by 50.05 points (or 1.10%) to close at 4,604.99 points.

Turnover & Market Capitalization

LOLC Finance was the highest contributor to the week’s turnover value, contributing LKR 2.97Bn or 12.02% of total turnover value. Expolanka followed suit, accounting for 7.10% of turnover (value of LKR 1.75Bn) while Vallibel One contributed LKR 1.24Bn to account for 5.02% of the week’s turnover. Total turnover value amounted to LKR 24.71 Bn (cf. last week’s value of LKR 31.59 Bn), while the daily average turnover value amounted to LKR 6.18 Bn (-21.79% W-o-W) compared to last week’s average of LKR 7.90 Bn. Market capitalization meanwhile, increased by 0.18% W-o-W (or LKR 10.99 Bn) to LKR 6,002.20 Bn cf. LKR 5,991.21 Bn last week.

Liquidity (Value & Volume)

Capital Goods Industry Group was the highest contributor to the week’s total turnover value, accounting for 22.75% (or LKR 5.62Bn) of market turnover. Industry Group’s turnover was driven primarily by Vallibel One, ACL and Access Eng SL which accounted for 49.89% of the sector’s total turnover. Diversified Financials Group meanwhile accounted for 20.34% of the total turnover value while Materials Industry Group contributed 15.26% to the weekly turnover.

The Diversified Financials Industry Group dominated the market in terms of share volume, accounting for 32.14% (or 280.63 Mn shares) of total volume, with a value contribution of LKR 5.02Bn. The Materials Industry Group followed suit, adding 16.62% to total volume (145.14 Mn shares) while The Food Beverage & Tobacco Group contributed 11.46% (100.09 Mn shares) to the weekly share volume.

Total foreign purchases decreased by 14.3% W-o-W to LKR 0.47Bn from last week’s value of LKR 0.54Bn, while total foreign sales amounted to LKR 0.73Bn relative to LKR 0.91Bn recorded last week (-19.8% W-o-W).
