Small scale poultry farmers are leaving their industries due to shortage of feed and maize supplies, All Island Farmers’ Association National Organizer Namal Karunarathna complained.
Speaking at a media briefing on Sunday, he said the shortage of chickens and eggs would also be a major blow to those involved in the hotel and tourism industry.
“If the Government cannot find a solution to feed the birds, there will be a massive downfall in poultry production,” he added. He said people are buying chicken because of the high price of vegetables.
