Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Chief of Security, Chief Organizer of the ceremony that was held at Temple Trees and the Kollupitiya Police OIC had been summoned to the CID to record statements regarding the recent incidents that took place near Temple Trees and in the Galle Face area.
Based on the directives of the Attorney General, the investigation was handed over by the IGP to the CID which recorded the statements of these officers and statements are also expected to be recorded from several others in future, police said.
The Government Analyst was also summoned to the GotaGoGama premises yesterday (11) for further investigations, the CID said. Statements were also recorded from those who were present at the protest site at Galle Face on Monday (10) and yesterday (11) by the investigation teams.
The CID stated that the matter has been reported to the Fort Magistrate’s Court. Investigations into the incident are being carried out by two Superintendents of Police under the supervision of the Director of the CID. Six police teams have been deployed under them for the investigations.
