Private buses demand diesel or threaten to pull-out

Lanka Private Bus Operator’s Association President Gemunu Wijeratne yesterday said private buses will not operate from June 6 as they find it difficult to obtain diesel.

He said that they were in operation in the midst of difficulties due to the GCE Ordinary Level Examination and this decision was taken with the examination ending yesterday.

“We have to wait in queues for days to pump diesel for buses”. He added that steps should be taken to provide fuel for private buses through SLTB depots.
