New AKOFE Website launch

AKOFE Country Director Mrs Myungjin Kim, Senior Manager Mrs Soyoung Heu, President of AKOFE Roshan Serasinghe, Secretary of AKOFE  Dharmananda Wijesinghe, senior KOICA officials and KOICA and AKOFE Executive Committee Members at the launch of the new AKOFE Website.

A new Website (www.akofe.lk) was launched by the Association of KOICA Fellows in Sri Lanka (AKOFE) at the KOICA head office last week. AKOFE Country Director Mrs Myungjin Kim launched the website. Senior Manager Mrs Soyoung Heu, President of AKOFE Roshan Serasinghe, Secretary of AKOFE Dharmananda Wijesinghe, senior KOICA officials and KOICA and AKOFE Executive Committee Members were present.

The new website will enable AKOFE to share information of their activities and future activities with its members and outside parties and interact with KOICA Associations in over 40 countries. The AKOFE membership mainly consists of senior public and corporate sector officials who have undergone training in their respective fields in South Korea through scholarships granted by the Korean Government.

This organization was formed 15 years ago with the main objectives of effectively utilizing the knowledge and skills gained in Korea for nation building efforts of Sri Lanka, promoting friendly relations between two countries and serving the less privileged by dispersing the KOICA annual aids effectively. The membership now stands closely to 1000. The Executive Committee together with KOICA organizes various charity projects, spread throughout the country. Some of the recent projects undertaken by AKOFE were, providing water purification systems to four schools in Polonnaruwa district, water filter donations to villages in Galnewa and handing over of medical equipment to the Nawagamuwa District Hospital.

Korea’s International Corporate Agency (KOICA) was founded in April 1991 as a Government Agency with the prime objective to maximize the effectiveness of Korea’s grant aid program for developing countries.
