RCSSL collects school items for low-income students

The Royal College Social Services League (RCSSL) has launched a special programme to collect new and used school uniforms, school bags, shoes, stationery, textbooks and storybooks from interested persons in order to donate them to school-going children from low-income families.

RCSSL Chairman Nethum Manitha said the objective of this programme which is conducted under the theme ‘Give a second life to your used clothes’, in collaboration with the Old Royalists’ Social Service League (ORSSL), is to assist schoolchildren from low-income families, especially at this crucial moment when the country is facing an economic crisis.

Quoting a recent survey the RCSSL Chairman said the majority of less-privileged students in all parts of the country are not financially able to purchase uniforms, books and other necessary items owing to the country’s current economic situation.

According to the organizing committee, all donations should be handed over to the Royal College Union Skills Centre on or before July 1. Donations are accepted only on Thursdays from 7.00 am to 7.30 am and 12.00 noon to 2.00 pm. For further details contact the ORSSL on 0774575793 and the RCSSL on 0771277626.
