Madushanka take bowling honours on day one

The 21-year-old left arm medium paceman Dilshan Madushanka took bowling honours for Sri Lanka 'A 'while Australia' A' scored 379 all out after first days play in the first four day cricket fixture played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International cricket stadium Hambantota yesterday.

Australia'A' decided to bat first but they were unable to make a good start with young paceman Madushanka,a product of Hungama Wijayabahu Central made an early breakthrough to put their opponents struggling at 98 for five wickets at one stage.

The first three wickets of openers Matt Renshaw (2), Skipper Marcus Harris (0) and Henry Hunt (0) took by Madushanka on his own ground Hambantota while wicket keeper Josh Phillippe (94 in 102 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes) and Aaron Hardie (62 in 83 balls with 5 fours) put on a 125 runs fifth wicket stand to repair the innings.

The number eight batter Nathan McAndrew also made a fighting knock of 92 in 135 balls with 5 fours missed well deserved century and Madushanka once again took his fourth wicket to dismiss McAndrew for the last wicket at 89th over.

Madushanka ended with a superb spell of 4 for 62 in 14.1 overs spell while Lakshitha Manasinghe the off spinner and Suminda Lakshan the leg spinner played a good supporting role with taking three wickets each.

The second day, today Sri Lanka A expected to start their first innings on this batting friendly Hambantota wicket.
