Seven countries including Sri Lanka are competing at the ITF Asia under 12 Tennis Team competition (South Asia Regional qualifying Round at Kathmandu ,Nepal and this tournament started on June 12 and it will be continues till June19.

India Pakistan, Nepa, Maldiv.Bangalidesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka are the participating teams at this qualifying round which is avery good exposure for youngsters. Sri Lanka girls team beat Bangladesh 3/0 in their opening game. in this qualifying round game First singles won by Akesha Silva in two straight sets 6/0, 6/0 while in the second singles Sandithi Usgoda Arachchi won the game with out much effort by 6/0 6/0 In the deciding first doubles game Akesha Silva partnered by Devangi Sovis recorded an easy win by 6/0 6/1

Meanwhile Sri Lanka boys team beat Nepal 3/0 to take an early lead in this competition Mayooran Kubherane (6/2 6/2) and Rishith Somarathne (6/4 6/4) won their singles .The doubles game won by Mayooran Kubherane and Minhas Mututhanthri( 6/2 6/2) to get 3/0 lead

Meanwhile Sri Lankan lasses beat Nepal 3/0 and back to back victories over Bangladesh and Nepal gave much needed confidence. in the girls second game against Nepal Akesha Silva( 6/0 6/3) and Sandhiti Usgoda Arachchi (4/6, 6/1, 6/1 ) won the singles while Akesha Silby partnered by Sandhiti Usgoda Arachchi (6/2 6/0) won the doubles event.
