Forest Ranger arrested over shooting child

Rajanganaya Police arrested a forest ranger for assaulting a father who was traveling in a tipper truck and shooting his 13-year-old son with a rubber bullet and injuring him. The father and son had gone to the Katupathwewa, Galwala area in the Nochchiyagama police division to fetch sand, but were returning home due when it fell dark and they had been attacked while returning home, police said.

According to the father’s complaint, two person who had come on a motorcycle opened the right front door of the vehicle, took the key and had assaulted the father.

According to the father’s complaint, the other man had taken a gun and shot his child in the head when the child shouted. The police are investigating.
