Rice retailers unable to sell at MRP

Rural retailers of rice say that they have to refrain from selling rice as the Consumer Affairs Authority would take them to task for selling above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).

They said that under the current situation, the millers provide them a kilogram of rice at a rate of Rs. 300. Hence they unable to provide rice at the controlled price. The businessmen said that the mill owners do not give them a bill for the money they take.

The retail businessmen urge the authorities that rather than upbraiding the retail businessmen for selling rice above the controlled price, to raid the large-scale mill owners’ stores and take action to direct them to provide rice at a reasonable rate enabling the retail businessmen to sell at the controlled price.
