LPG cylinders hidden in church

Badulla District Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) officials seized 11 LPG cylinders hidden in a church in the Hali-Ela area which were kept to be sold at a higher price.

According to a tip-off received by the CAA the cylinders were sold at Rs. 8,500 each. CAA officials and the Hali-Ela Police raided the place and arrested a person and seized the cylinders.

There were five empty cylinders among the 11 and the officials said that legal actions would be taken against the suspect under Section 16 of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act.
