An organized group had defrauded a sum of Rs. 77,000 at three separate places in Kilinochchi by selling water for diesel.
The same group had sold water for diesel in Kanakambikaikulam, Bharathipuram, and Malayalapuram in Kilinochchi to three persons who were in diesel queues.
It is reported that the group had obtained Rs. 30,000 in Kanakambikaikulam, Rs. 12,000 in Bharathipuram, and Rs. 35,000 in Malayalapuram from the three for water mixed with diesel.
The Consumer Affairs Authority officials warned the people not to buy fuel from anyone other than from an authorized institution.
