TNA will support President for an APG, if genuine - MP Sumanthiran

The Tamil National Alliance will give its unreserved support for the President if he is genuine about forming an All-Party Government (APG), TNA Jaffna District MP M.A. Sumanthiran said yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Tamil National Alliance’s

Vavuniya district office, the MP said that the only solution to all the problems in the country including the economic problem at this time is an All-Party Government.

Sumanthiran however said that when forming an all-party government, it should be done very sincerely and such effort should not be directed for petty political gain and strengthening one Party’s power base.

The MP said that TNA will never support an all-party government if the intentions of those behind the effort are not honest.

During the periodic discussions held by the Tamil National Alliance with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Sumanthiran said the former President had agreed to provide solutions to four of the main problems faced by the Tamil people.

He said TNA decided to support MP Dallas Alahapperuma in the election to elect a replacement President as Alahapperuma had promised to intervene to resolve the Tamil issues.

Sumanthiran highlighted issues such as justice for the families of those who disappeared during the war, stopping the forcible seizure of lands belonging to the Tamils in the North and giving a political solution to the ethnic problem.
