President’s Fifth Lane house damages over Rs. 200 mn

The Kollupitiya Police informed Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (10) that investigations so far have revealed that the people who broke into the private residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe have caused a loss of more than Rs.200 million to the property there.

 

 

The police said that the damage assessment was done only to the goods and that investigations are still being carried out regarding the damage to the building.

When the case was taken up before Court, the police stated that 75 valuable devices including laptops and cameras were produced as case production.

The Additional Solicitor General appearing on behalf of the Attorney General informed Court that the damage caused to the official car used by the President when he was the Prime Minister was close to Rs.191 million.

Meanwhile, two suspects who have been arrested in connection with setting fire to the private residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe have been remanded till August 24.
