A man who made a video of holding a knife to his five year old son’s neck and threatening to kill him unless his wife who is working abroad comes back home has been arrested by the Kuliyapitiya police.
The man had sent the video to his wife and the employment agency who sent her abroad through WhatsApp. The Kuliyapitiya Police Children and Women’s Bureau has taken the child into custody and the has arrested the man after the matter was brought to the notice of the police.
The knife that was used to make the threatening video was also found by the Police Division’s Children and Women’s Bureau. Police officers had taken action to immediately admit the child to the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital due to the signs of injury marks on the child’s neck area. Police say the man has done similar acts in the past as well. He is to be produced in Court.
