British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has praised the efforts of President Ranil Wickremesinghe to form a government that includes all parties in order to establish the stability needed to solve the problems of the Sri Lankan people.
In a congratulatory message on the appointment of President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Head of State, the British Prime Minister has mentioned that the President's success is the protection of democratic principles and the expectation of a democratic consensus.
Reiterating the British Government's sincere commitment to Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also stated that the United Kingdom will continue to work with the people of Sri Lanka, especially in the current economic and social challenges.
The British Prime Minister, who has expressed confidence that President Ranil Wickremesinghe will be able to achieve quick and positive progress in dealings with the International Monetary Fund, has also emphasized that the United Kingdom is ready to join its international partners to support Sri Lanka.
The British Prime Minister has also expressed confidence that long-term and significant progress can now be made in terms of reconciliation and accountability in Sri Lanka.
