Selfie attempt ends in death

Police said that a young man who tried to take a selfie picture with his mobile phone near a waterfall in Haldummulla had died after falling down from the top of the fall.

The incident had happened on the top of a hill in the Leiban section of Haldummulla Udaveriya Estate.

This deceased youth has been identified as 24-year-old Madhusankha Sagara from Guruthalawa. Police said that the deceased youth had gone to see the waterfall with some friends and had met his tragic end while trying to take a selfie. The youth's body was found in a water pit about two hundred metres down from the waterfall.
