Drug store owned by doctor raided, stock of expired medicines seized

A group of investigative officers from the Anuradhapura District Office of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) raided a private drug store owned by a doctor in the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and seized a stock of expired medicines.

The Anuradhapura District Office of the Consumer Affairs Authority says that after this raid, the doctor and his wife, who owns the respective drug store, severely obstructed the duty of the investigating officers and even refused to provide the license and information of the related drug store.

The Consumer Affairs Authority is working to report the facts to the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court regarding the sale of expired medicines and the obstruction of the duty of these investigating officers.
