CID on trail of constable, two others in jewellery theft case

The CID has started an investigation and is questioning three suspects, including a constable of the Bibile Police, who allegedly pretended to be officers of the CID and broke into a house in Rambukkana claiming to be raiding it to find a stolen gold casket and gold ornaments from a temple in Rambukkana, and robbed gold jewellery from the house.

On February 12, five ancient gold caskets and three crystal caskets were stolen from the Daliwala Kotawehera temple. A special police team of the CID was appointed to investigate the theft by order of the Inspector General of Police.

The police team has been in Rambukkana since February 14 and is engaged in the investigation.

Thus far they have not been able to arrest any of the suspects involved in the theft.
