Two, including Jaffna organizer who demanded bribes remanded

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela yesterday (7) ordered that two suspects, including the Jaffna district organizer of the Sri Lanka United Front, who were arrested by the Bribery Commission for demanding a sexual bribe and a sum of 50,000 rupees for offering a woman a government job, were remanded until September 21.

These suspects are Sri Lanka United Front’s Jaffna District Organizer Muhammadu Kasim Muhammadu and his secretary M. P. Lebbe Zeinul Abdeen, resident of Aruppu Street, Colombo 13.

The complainant stated in her complaint to the Bribery Commission that the suspect, who asked her for a government job and asked for a bribe of 150,000 and a sexual bribe, initially informed her to come and meet him with Rs.50,000.

The Bribery Commission informed Court that the two suspects were arrested at a restaurant in Pettah when they were about to collect the money in question.
