CPC to identify sectors needing more fuel under QR

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said sectors that require more fuel in issuing fuel under the National Fuel Pass will be identified.

The weekly fuel requirement of each of those sectors will be calculated, he said.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is conducting a study on the areas that require more fuel.

The Minister stated this while participating in the progress review meeting on the national fuel Pass QR system. The progress review meeting was conducted online yesterday under the chairmanship of the Minister.

A study on specific areas where fuel quota needs to be increased is planned to begin this week focusing on selected private and government institutions.

A separate QR code for tourism and non-vehicular fuel requirements sectors is planned to be introduced next week. From the coming week, the SMS issued when refuelling will also issue the name of the area of filling station from where the fuel was taken. This will prevent the fraudulent use of the QR code.

Fuel dispensing data will be provided automatically to the filling station owners from today. In the future, the public can also get related information.
