Itechro partners SLT-MOBITEL to digitise plantation sector

Itechro Pvt Ltd, a software development company which is focused on enterprise digital transformation, recently ventured into a strategic partnership with Sri Lanka’s National Telecommunication Provider SLT-MOBITEL to rollout iHarvest, a digitisation platform for the plantation sector.

The partnership will help Itechro’s award-winning plantation digitization platform – iHarvest to make a huge an impact across the country’s agriculture value chain, with the help of the corporate giant - SLT-MOBITEL’s unparalleled expertise in capacity, connectivity solutions, advanced network services and digital infrastructure.

The partnership agreement between the two entities was signed by Chamara Jayaweera, Managing Director Itechro and Janaka Abeysinghe, CEO-SLT in the presence of representatives from both companies at a ceremony held in Colombo.

Jayaweera who is also the co-founder of the start-up, said, “iHarvest is Sri Lanka’s flagship precision plantation platform supporting Tea, Rubber, Coconut, Oil Palm and other export crops supporting plantations to improve efficiency and bottom line improvements. We are delighted to team up with Sri Lanka Telecom, our national telecom partner to make our offering available to our local and foreign customers leveraging on the cloud services”

iHarvest is a cloud-based platform aimed at digitising the field activity and operations for the enterprise plantation sector driving both top-line and bottom-line improvements to plantations.

The revolutionary platform has been developed to address common issues faced by agricultural enterprises to create a digitally enabled plantation ecosystem by connecting each entity to sustainably redefine the current interactions creating value to every stakeholder in the process.

iHarvest will facilitate all functions of the field and estate management to adapt a complete digital journey providing real time transparency of field activities supporting swift and better decisions.

Among the key features offered through the revolutionary platform include dashboards, task and budget management, harvest management, attendance capture, quality verification, payment management, factory operations and optimization. Field trials are in progress using satellite based field, plant and fertiliser optimisation for mature estates.

As a result of the new strategic partnership agreement, leveraging SLT-MOBITEL’s cloud services, iHarvest will be hosted on Azure Stack offered in local currency to provide further value and cost predictability to plantation companies, incorporating a digital shift in the business models.

iHarvest was a worthy winner at the National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) 2020within the Industrial Agriculture Category and SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2021 for its achievements in digitizing the plantation eco-systems and showcasing the potential it possesses as an international product.
