Taxila Horana emerge champs

Taxila Central College Horana emerged champions in the Under 15 Division Two Inter Schools cricket tournament yesterday.

Taxila Central College Horana won on first innings against Sri Sumangala Central College Hikkaduwa at the final played at the Ananda Shastralaya ground in Beddagana.

Taxila Central College won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Sumangala College were bowled out 81 runs in 31 overs. Resandu Sanuth right arm off-spinner claimed 4 wickets for 1 run and Nawanjana Deemanatha claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs.

Taxila Central Horana scored 244 runs for 9 wickets in 49 runs. Kushan Theekshana scored 62 runs. Nawanjana Deemanatha (43), Ridma Shashikirana (33), Omalika Amarasinghe (28), Tenusha Thathsara (22) and Samith Shavinda (15) helped to build their innings.

Sri Sumangala Hikkaduwa scored 82 runs for 4 wickets in 22 overs at close. Kaushalya Saranga scored unbeaten 30 runs.
