Afghanistan crumble as India win by 101 runs

Virat Kohli struck a delightful unbeaten 122 while paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar had superb figures of 5 for 4 enabling them to get an easy 101-run victory over Afghanistan in their last Super Four game of the Asia Cup held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Afghanistan were invited India to bat first as they made 212 for 2 wickets and Afghanistan managed to get only 111 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli was adjudged the Man of the Match for his performance.

Earlier, Virat Kholi played the best knock of his T20 career smashing an unbeaten 122 as India made the highest team total so far in this tournament (212 for 2 wickets in 20 overs) to create a huge challenge for Afghanistan. Kohli, the experienced right-hander open the innings as regular skipper Rohit Sharma was rested for this match. Kohli and K.L Rahul made a superb batting display to add 119 runs in 12.4 overs. Rahul scored 62 in 41 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Kholi, who was out for a duck in the last game came, back strong to collect his maiden century and help build up a sizable total against Afghanistan. Kohli was unbeaten on 122 off just 61 balls with the help of 12 fours and 6 sixes.

India, who are out of the final made a few changes with key-players skipper Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Hardik Pandya’ and leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal were rested to give others the chance to get more exposure before the T20 world Cup.
