Sri Lankan who tried to sell stolen Valampuri arrested

The Police Special Task Force says that a Sri Lankan who tried to sell a rare variety of Valampuri which he had stolen from a shop in Papua New Guinea, for Rs.10 million to another person was arrested near the Ampara market.

Police say that the suspect had stolen the Valampuri from an antiques dealer in Papua New Guinea while he was working there.

The arrested suspect is a 44-year-old resident of Uragasmanhandiya. He has been handed over to the Ampara Police for further investigation.
