The Champion Sri Lanka Netball Team which retained the Asian Netball Crown by beating host nation Singapore by 63/59 in the final returned to the island yesterday morning and was given a rousing welcome at Katunayake International Airport.
They were received by State Minister of sports Rohana Dissanayke, Director General of Sports Amal Edirisooriya, President of the Sri Lanka Netball Federation Lakshmi Victoria at theVIP lounge at a ceremony with Kandyan and Low Country dancers in attendance
State Minister Rohana Dissnayake said that the Sri Lanka netballers have brought honour and fame to the country during this difficult period with this achievement.
The skipper of Sri Lanka netball team Gayanjali Amarawansa said that they were in high spirits after winning the Asian netball crown and their next target is to clinch the world netball title at the world championship in Cape Town, South Africa next year.
