Colombo South face Galle in Girls’ U-19 final today

The unbeaten Colombo South Team will meet the Galle Team in the inaugural Sri Lanka Youth League Girls’ Under-19 Twenty20 Cricket Tournament final at the Dambulla Stadium today.

A total of 78 players representing six teams, namely Colombo South, Colombo North, Galle, Galle Outer, Kandy and Dambulla participated in this tournament.

The 78 players were chosen by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) through its National Talent Pathway, covering all schools, districts, and provincials. This tournament was also conducted in preparations towards taking part in the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in 2023, which will be held in South Africa.

Colombo South won all five matches of the tournament and collected the maximum of 10 points to complete the league phase with an impressive net run-rate of 2.211.

Meanwhile, Galle lost only one game from their five outings and finished with eight points and a net run-rate of 2.810. Colombo North narrowly missed the opportunity of playing in the final as they finished with six points followed by Dambulla (4 points), Galle Outer (2 points) and Kandy, who lost all five matches.
