"Actually I didn't have a good cricket career. Had to face lot of difficulties from the start. I started my sports from Hambantota MV and then crossed over the Hambantota Theraputtha National School where I developed my cricket skills from Kumara Sir".

"At the Hambantota MV I was a keen football player while I had chance to play soft ball cricket with my friends. However with my sports skills I got the chance to enter Theraputtha National School in Hambantota".

"I live in Colombo nearly last seven years and up to date I am playing for Tamil Union and wanted to continue that with more confidence.I think I had a chance to play division two cricket at Hambantota CC where I started my club cricket carrer. When I was at Theraputtha National School I was a top order batter and opening bowler with right arm medium pace. I used to captain the school side while scoring runs as well.

I performed really well at a division two match at Katunayake Air Force grounds. One of the umpires of this game asked me to join Colombo club for the Premier League cricket and that was the turning point of my cricket career. I was keen to attach to Tamil Union where Suranga Lakmal the former Sri Lankan paceman was played. Suranga also from my area Ambalantota while Dhanajaya de Silva the present club captain gave good support to establish as a Tamil Union player. I had a dream to enter the National team but I realized that is very hard journey and wanted to go step by step," said Madushan with an exclusive interview to the Daily news.

I am very keen to bowl while my batting ability also click to get runs as a low order batter.

I had a good opportunity to play National Super League (NSL) and that paved the way to enter the National side. I was lucky to play the last Australian ODI series and in the final game was my debut in ODI. After that I had opportunity to play for Sri Lanka A during the Australian A series and finally I got chance to play SLC invitational T-20 league cricket tournament before the Asia Cup cricket tournament. When I get the ball my effort is to bowl line and length to get wickets this is my simple basic theory and today I got successful results.

"When I enter the Asia Cup squad it was my dream come true to go overseas tour. I am very happy to play for the National team but not like to label as a white ball player and wanted to play Test cricket as soon as possible but that is up to selectors.

My mother is a house wife while father is doing business in my village and our family members always encourage me. Especially my club Tamil Union officials and Bopage Sir who is presently work at SSC cricket grounds Manager gave a good support. The school coaches, all my club coaches, Sri Lanka cricket officials and my team members give good support while present National head coach Chris Silverwood and bowling coach Dharshana Gamage doing a superb job to get my success.I don't know I will get the place for next T 20 World Cup squad but my duty is to play National cricket more time and ensure the place at all three formats said Pramod Madushan.
