COVID booster jabs given at MOH offices on weekends

The Health Ministry has taken measures to implement a special programme of administering the third and fourth booster vaccinations against COVID-19 throughout the country in the next few weekends.

Accordingly, the vaccination programme will be held on September 17, 24 and October 1 and 8, in all Regional Health Medical Officer offices and hospitals throughout the island.

In this vaccination programme, the first and second booster doses for adults over 20 and the first and second doses for children aged 12 to 19 are administered after confirming that booster vaccinations are given.

Health Services Director General Dr.Asela Gunawardena has instructed relevant officials to implement the vaccination programme on the relevant days and every Medical Officer of Health office should organize a special vaccination campaign in at least three locations or three vaccination centers in the area of the Medical Officer of Health, including the Central Clinic. These clinics are open from 8 am to 4 pm.

The vaccination campaign will be held in addition to the regular COVID-19 vaccination services offered through the District Medical Officer of Health offices and hospitals on other days of the week, and all vaccination clinics will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines on the COVID-19 vaccination issued by the Health Ministry.

The Ministry requested all to support this vaccination programme. More information about this can be obtained by contacting the Chief Epidemiologist of the Epidemiology Unit.
