Hold 75th Independence Day with novelty - PM

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena advised officials organizing the 75th Independence Day celebrations on February 4, to consider the historical status and pride and organize the national event and

celebrations across the country in a novel way. These instructions were given during a discussion held at the Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry on Wednesday regarding the role of the members of the Committee for the 75th Independence Day Commemoration in 2023.

Prime Minister Gunawardena who is also the Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister stated that the 75th year of Independence was a special occasion. He instructed officials to conduct all activities of the national festival in a new and creative manner, involving the history of independence, with the support of all parties at a low cost.

The Prime Minister said that the President too expects to celebrate Independence in a new way this year.

Priyantha Mayadunne, Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, K.G.Dharmathilaka, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant officers in Ministries and Institutions participated at this discussion. Ashoka Priyantha, State Minister of Home Affairs too attended at this meeting
