Malaysia defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in their AFC Asian Cup Under-20 Football Tournament Qualifier played at the MFF Football Centre, Ulaanbaatar Ground in Mongolia yesterday.
Sri Lanka, who had earlier lost to South Korea 0-6, did well to restrict Malaysia to a solitary goal in the first half with Aliff Izwan scoring the first goal in the 31st minute.
Malaysia extended their lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute through a goal from Adan Farhan and Izwan netted his second goal of the match in the fourth minute of injury time to complete a resounding victory. Sri Lanka’s third and final Group ‘E’ match of the tournament will be against the host nation Mongolia on September 18 at the same venue.
