SLTC signs with SLYSC for Applied Information Technology degree

The Sri Lanka Youth Services Council (SLYSC) and the Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) recently signed an agreement to commence the Applied Information Technology degree course with the aim of producing computer graduates suitable for the world job market.

Youth who have passed the G.C.E. Advanced level examination with three general passes in any subject stream can enroll in this degree course. Under the first phase, 2,000 students will be enrolled at 75 training centers attached to the Sri Lanka Youth Services Council and National Youth Corps.

Speaking at the MOU signing ceremony between the two institutions, Transport, Highways, and Media Minister Dr.Bandula Gunawardena said this degree course will open the doors of the world job market to the rural youth.This course has been designed as a three-year IT degree course for young people who are interested in the subject of information technology but cannot pursue higher education in the field of information technology under the current education system. The specialty of this course as it is a professional and practical degree course aimed at employment. Through this degree course, youth who have a love and interest in information technology will have the opportunity to mark the beginning of a new chapter in their life. New jobs will be created and a new generation of entrepreneurs will be produced through this course, which will also contribute greatly to national development. Under the first phase, about two thousand students are expected to be enrolled in 75 selected centers in October 2022.
