Moratuwa Police have arrested a person who has sexually abused an 8-year-old girl on several occasions. The Moratuwa Police said that the second husband of the victim's mother was arrested on suspicion.
The suspect is a resident of Polkotuwa Road, Rawatawatta, Moratuwa.
The victim's mother had told Police that she married her second husband about three years ago and she has an 8-year-old daughter from her first marriage and a 2-year-old son from her second marriage.
The girl's mother told Police that the girl in question had told her English teacher that she had severe pain in her body. The teacher had informed the mother about the situation and took the girl to a doctor.
Later, after bringing the girl home, the mother inquired about the reasons for the illness and the girl disclosed her ordeal. The suspect who was arrested in connection with the incident was remanded until October 4.
