Left-hander Vishva Deemantha smashed an unbeaten 102 with 13 fours in 195 balls as Kandy Customs CC posted a formidable total of 321 in their Major Clubs Three-day cricket fixture against Ragama CC played at Thurstan grounds yesterday.
Ragama won the toss and elected to field. Kandy Customs CC has been excellent throughout the day batting for 87.3 overs. Ragama CC skipper Janith Liyanage was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 21 while debutant Hareen Ratnamudali and Eshan Malinga took two wickets apiece.
Most of the cricketers who played in the England League tournament have returned home and will play their home matches from this week. Also, the National white ball squad players pulled out of the Major Clubs tournament as they will part in a special training programme from September 25th at Pallekele. They are scheduled to leave for Australia on October 2 for the T20 World Cup.
