The 55th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, which was to be held in Sri Lanka, has been shifted to its Headquarters in Manila, Philippines, owing to the socio-economic instability in the country.
The event beginning today will continue till September 30. President Ranil Wickremesinghe will attend the event in his capacity as the Finance Minister.
Finance Ministers, Central Bank Governors and Finance Ministry officials of the Member States of the ADB will participate.
Sri Lanka will receive the Chair of the ADB Board of Governors this year. It will be held by President Wickremesinghe, in his capacity as the Finance Minister, in the next two years.
The ADB has 68 Member Countries and 49 of them belong to Asia.
