Sri Lanka T20 squad commence practices

The Sri Lanka T20 World Cup squad led by Dasun Shanaka will commence a special residential training programme from (today) 26 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium to focus on the World Cup which will be held from October 16.

During this training period, all squad players and stand-by players hope to get good practice under the guidance of head coach Chris Silverwood and his support staff while Chairman of the Selection Committee Pramodya Wickramasinghe also will accompany the team during this training period.

According to the senior official of the SLC, after the one-week training period is completed, the Sri Lanka squad is expected to depart for Australia on October 2. The Sri Lanka team has to play three qualifying round matches against Namibia (Oct 16), UAE, (Oct 18), and Netherland (Oct 20) before the main tournament.

The sports Minister has approved 15-member squad while two stand-by players also will accompany the team.
