Royal down Trinity in annual football tie

Royal College edged out their traditional rivals Trinity College 2-0 in their fourth annual First Eleven football encounter played at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

The winners also had the honour of winning the coveted J. R. Jayewardene Memorial Challenge Trophy.

The visitors laid the platform for their victory and took a slender 1-0 lead at half time thanks to a superb header from their striker Ilman Rizan.

After the turnaround, Royal continued with their dominance and added another goal midway in the second half through Mohamed Zaneer to seal the contest in their favour.
