App to verify authentic liquor

The Excise Department yesterday introduced a mobile app to verify the authenticity of liquor in the retail market.

This was introduced under the patronage of acting Finance Minister Dr.Ranjith Siambalapitiya at the Excise Department headquarters in Rajagiriya, Colombo.

Customers can avail this facility after downloading Excise Tax Stamp Valiuator-SL using a smart phone.

After scanning the sticker pasted on the cap of the liquor bottle with a mobile phone, customers can know the date of manufacture, the alcohol content, and information about the manufacturing establishments.If the liquor bottle is fake customers can inform the investigation unit of the Excise Department using the app.
