Three police officers including a sub inspector attached to the Divisional Crimes Investigation Unit of Kelaniya who are said to have robbed nine foreign liquor bottles to the value of US$ 3,800 and jewellery from a person who had returned to the country from India, were ordered to be remanded till November 28 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela yesterday.

The suspects have been surrendered before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday through an attorney.

The suspects were produced before an identification parade following a request made by the prosecution. An Assistant Superintendent of Police informed the Magistrate that nine statements have been recorded pertaining to the incident.

Counsels also alleged that there were two female police officers who participated in the raid and they were released and only the male police officers were charged in this regard. After taking the facts into consideration, the Magistrate fixed further inquiries for November 28.
