CWC welcomes Budget 2023 as pragmatic

The Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) General Secretary and Nuwara Eliya District Parliamentarian Jeevan Thondaman said that he voted in favour of the budget presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe for 2023 because it is a budget suitable for the current economy of the country.

Speaking to media in Kotagala, Thondaman said that because the rulers who ruled the country for 72 years did not present a suitable budget for the country, Sri Lanka is currently in the midst of many economic problems.

Thondaman said that some people in the country are conducting agitations, while others are engaged in trade union activities, and the country’s economy cannot be boosted due to such agitations and trade union activities.

Thondaman said that the people of the plantations did not get any relief from this year’s budget, and his party has set a date to discuss with the President and the Central Bank in this regard.
