Child of Russian who died in accident at Unawatuna safe

Girl’s father to arrive from Russia today:

The four-year-old daughter of the Russian woman who died yesterday in the train accident at Maharamba railway crossing in Unawatuna is safe and the child’s father is scheduled to come to Sri Lanka today (3), Galle SSP Sudath Masinghe said.

He said so commenting on a false report in a daily newspaper yesterday that there is no one to take care of the Russian girl whose mother died in the train accident in Unawatuna.

SSP Masinghe said that the news was false and after the incident was reported to the embassy and the girl’s father was informed about it and accordingly the girl’s father is scheduled to come to Sri Lanka today and after his arrival the post mortem of the Russian woman who died would be conducted.

Habaraduwa Paolice OIC Chief Inspector Ashoka Karunaratne said that a large number of Russian families were staying in the area where the accident occurred and two Russian families are also staying at the house of the deceased woman. He also said that the deceased woman had been providing facilities to Russian nationals coming to this country for a visit and after her death, her four year old daughter is very safe in the day care center with Russian children.

The accident had taken place on her way back from the day care centre keeping her child there.
