Grenade found by sweeper in Bambalapitiya

A worker engaged in cleaning the Bambalapitiya road in the morning, had found a hand grenade inside a polythene bag hung on a roadside tree, on Saturday.

The worker, a resident of Dehiwala, had alerted the Police. Police said it was a ‘JR’ model foreign-manufactured hand grenade.

The hand grenade was discovered on a tree near a bus stop in the Bauddaloka Mawatha, between Galle Road and Duplication Road. Police said investigations are on, with the help of CCTV footage of the business establishments in that area, to identify the individual who placed the hand grenade.
